As technology continues to evolve, so do the tools we use in our everyday lives. Microsoft has announced that after October 2026, Microsoft Publisher will no longer be supported. This decision marks the end of an era for many users who have relied on Publisher for creating various documents and publications.
At Aureole Systems, we understand the importance of providing our customers with the tools they need to succeed. While it’s always sad to say goodbye to a familiar software, we are committed to helping our users transition smoothly to alternative solutions.
What does this mean for you and your organization? Let’s break it down:
End of Support for Microsoft Publisher
Microsoft recently announced that as of October 13, 2026, Microsoft Publisher will officially reach its end of life. This means that it will no longer be included in Microsoft 365 subscriptions, and existing on-premises suites will no longer receive support.
However, until that date, users can continue to use Publisher with its current functionality. Microsoft will continue to provide support for Publisher to ensure users have a seamless experience leading up to the end-of-life date.
Exploring Alternative Solutions
As we prepare for the retirement of Microsoft Publisher, we are actively exploring modern ways to achieve similar functionalities across other Microsoft applications. This includes leveraging tools like Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Designer to fulfill common Publisher scenarios. There are also Open Source alternatives such as Scribus.
While we are still in the process of exploring these alternatives, we are committed to keeping our users informed and updated as we progress.
How to Prepare
No immediate action is required at this time. This notice is intended to provide users with sufficient time to plan for the transition away from Microsoft Publisher. We will continue to share updates and recommendations as the end-of-life date approaches.
For users of the perpetual version of Publisher, support will also end in October 2026, coinciding with the end of support for Office LTSC 2021. Microsoft 365 customers will lose access to Publisher from that date forward.
Where to from Here
The retirement of Microsoft Publisher may mark the end of an era, but it also presents an opportunity for users to explore new and innovative solutions for their document creation needs. At Aureole Systems, we are committed to supporting our customers throughout this transition and beyond.
As we bid farewell to Microsoft Publisher, we look forward to embracing the future of productivity tools and helping our users achieve what matters most, both in their work and in their lives. Stay tuned for further updates and guidance on navigating this transition seamlessly.
